A tooth crown (also called a dental crown) is typically a cap that is engineered to resemble your tooth. This cap is fitted on the damaged teeth. You can select one of many crown materials, such as porcelain, metal, resin, or ceramic.

At Reich Dental Center - Tucker, we also have CEREC crown technology available to our patients.

What Are CEREC Crowns?

CEREC crowns, or same day crowns, are "Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics." This means you can get crowns after just one visit. These crowns are made using modern technology known as CAD/CAM technology.

These same day crowns are outstanding because we can create them in just one visit. You don't have to wait days for the crown to be engineered in the lab. The CEREC crown is made of high-quality material known as ceramic making them very durable.

How CEREC Crowns Are Made

The crowns are made using modern technology to ensure they are durable and perfectly fit over your teeth. Preparing your teeth can involve eliminating any damaged parts or fragments.

We can take a digital impression of your teeth using specially designed cameras. The cameras take several images of your teeth from different angles. The images are combined to make a 3D model of your teeth.

Through the 3D model, we can design a customized crown using our software. We engineer a crown that matches with your tooth size, shape, and color. Once the design is complete, we mill it with superior ceramic material. We then polish the crown to ensure a smooth surface and aesthetically pleasing look.

Benefits of CEREC Crowns

•  CEREC crowns are same-day dental crowns! We create and place the crowns in just one visit. You don't have to wait days for the crowns to be fabricated - this saves you time.

•  Since we use modern technology to create them, the final products are precise and perfectly fit over your teeth. You can enjoy a more comfortable fit and long-lasting effects.

•  CEREC crowns are designed with superior-quality materials meaning they can last many years without breaking. With proper care, you can have a confident smile for several years.

•  Additionally, we design the crowns to resemble your other teeth
•  this means that these dental restoration methods are virtually indistinguishable and will offer a beautiful look.

Are CEREC Crowns Right For You?

If you are looking for same-day dental crowns that offer incredible results, CEREC crowns are ideal.

CEREC crowns are great since they are durable, and you don't need to make several dental appointments. The crowns are created fast, and you can go home the same day with a beautiful smile.

The crowns are technologically advanced and convenient options for most patients.

However, it is important to note that traditional crowns might be the best option for people with complex dental issues or those requiring several restorations.

CEREC Crowns VS. Traditional Crowns

If you are considering concealing imperfections, you are probably torn between CEREC and traditional crowns.

One major difference between these two crowns is the procedure time. CEREC crowns are made within just one visit. Traditional crowns, on the other hand, require more than one visit.

We must prepare your teeth, take accurate impressions, place a temporary crown, and send the impressions for fabrication.

The second significant difference is the materials used. The CEREC crowns use a very durable material; they can either be ceramic or porcelain. These materials are solid and less susceptible to wear and tear. Notably, traditional crowns can be made of many different materials, either metal, gold, porcelain, or ceramic.

Also, if you receive CEREC crowns, you are fitted with the permanent crown during your initial visit. However, for the traditional crowns, you must be fitted with a temporary crown first and later fitted with the permanent one when it is ready.

What to Expect During Your CEREC Crown Procedure

Preparing for the Procedure

The same-day crown installation starts with consultation and examination. We can also take x-rays if we suspect any underlying dental issues. Through the tests, we can be 100% sure that the crowns will solve your dental issues.

The CEREC Crown Procedure Itself

Once we ascertain that you are a good candidate, we prepare the tooth. We reshape your tooth to make it ideal for the fitting of a crown. Digital impressions of your teeth are taken, which helps us design the crown. We mill your crown and polish it to make it beautiful. Once the crown is ready, we place it on the teeth.

Recovery and Aftercare

Placing a crown is non-invasive; you can comfortably resume your duties the same day. However, after the procedure, ensure you don't bite on hard objects as they can make the crown break or chip. You should also ensure you observe your oral hygiene. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and non-abrasive toothpaste to avoid damaging the crown. Ideally, you may experience sensitivity for a few days after the procedure. That should not worry you, but you can always contact us if it is too severe.

How Long Do CEREC Crowns Last?

CEREC crowns can achieve a lifespan of up to 15 years. However, to ensure they are aesthetically appealing, practice good oral hygiene and don't bite hard foods. It would be best if you also visited us regularly; we can help identify any issues early on and make adjustments. CEREC crowns are very durable and indistinguishable as they mimic your other teeth.
